Maths Intervention/Booster A Maths booster/intervention that can be printed off to create a booklet of activity worksheets for Early Years and Key Stage 1 children. The PowerPoint covers five weeks and covers a range of activities including number writing to 5 and then to 10, missing numbers, number recognition and representation using pictures and addition and subtraction using numbers to 5 and then numbers to 10. I have used this activity to support children with their understanding of number and addition and subtraction and it has helped to boost their confidence when they return to class. Teen Numbers Lesson A complete Maths lesson for introducing teen numbers in a step by step manner. During the main input children practise making teen numbers and can practise writing the number sentences for teen numbers. Children then have to identify numbers - this encourages children to explain their thinking. This Maths lesson includes three differentiated teen number worksheets and a plenary. Aimed at Early Years and Year 1 children however could also be used as a booster or recap for Year 2 children.

Each test has ten questions to complete and there are two tests for each colour of the rainbow. Each child also has a blank rainbow to colour, they can colour each band once they are secure on that set of number bonds eg red number bonds are making 5 therefore once children are secure at making 5 they would colour the red band of the rainbow. The aim is for children to colour the whole rainbow. These tests cover number bonds for making numbers to 5, making numbers to 10 and making numbers to 20. Each test has thirteen questions to complete and there are two tests for each colour of the rainbow. Each child also has a blank rainbow to colour, they can colour each band once they are secure on that set of multiplications eg red multiplications are x2 and x10 therefore once children are secure at x2 and x10 they would colour the red band of the rainbow. Finding Half Lesson A complete Maths lesson for finding half of an amount. The lesson covers finding half of numbers and half of different values of money. The lesson demonstrates how to find half and includes three differentiated worksheets and a short plenary. Aimed at Early Years and Year 1 children. Doubling Lesson A complete Maths lesson focusing on doubling. The lesson demonstrates what doubling is and covers all doubles to 10 + 10. Children can practise writing the doubles number sentences on their whiteboards and then check that they have written them correctly when they are revealed on the IWB. Introducing Money A complete Maths lesson for introducing money and coins. The lesson covers the different coins and their value using pennies. There is an activity for swapping coins for a single coin to demonstrate that different coins can be used to make up different amounts and shows children that we need to add the amounts together and not simply count the coins. The lesson includes three differentiated money worksheets and a short plenary. Money Activity Cards A set of money activity cards covering coins only. The cards are split into three sets - cards showing one dot work with coins up to 5p and values below 10p, cards showing two dots work with coins up to 10p and values below 20p and cards showing three dots work with coins up to 20p and values below 30p. They can be used to assess what the children have learnt during the lesson or their prior knowledge. These Maths exit tickets can be used to assess Maths knowledge about number. Each ticket contains a Maths problem for the children to solve. The Maths problems include missing numbers in number sentences, counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, place value, one more and one less. These exit tickets can be printed and laminated or displayed on the Interactive Whiteboard. Each child could solve the same problem or they could all have their own ticket - this method is useful for differentiating and assessing the Maths knowledge of specific children. Phonics Exit Tickets A set of 39 phonics exit tickets based on the Year 1 English curriculum. Exit tickets can be used at the end of a lesson to assess children’s knowledge and understanding. They can be used to assess what the children have learnt during the lesson or their prior knowledge. These phonics exit tickets can be used to assess phonics knowledge. Each ticket contains a grapheme and words that the children could use with the grapheme missing. Children can therefore say one of the words from their card or can work out the words and then see if they can think of their own word. Each child could answer the same question or they could all have their own ticket - this method is useful for differentiating and assessing the phonics knowledge of specific children.
